Dr Alex GHANEM

Skin Cancer Medicine

Alex graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1991 and worked in Concord Repatriation Hospital from 1991 to 1993. He completed a Diploma of Paediatrics in 1994 while working at Sydney Children’s Hospital. He completed General Practice Training in Western NSW in 1995 and 1996. In 1998 he completed a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, then his Masters in Family Medicine at Monash in 2001.

Alex and his wife moved to Mudgee in 1996,  where he was a GP Obstetrician for 17 years. In that time his three children were born, raised and schooled in Mudgee.

Since 2013 he has completed several Diplomas in Dermoscopy, Skin Cancer Medicine, Skin Cancer Surgery, followed by a Master of Medicine in Skin Cancer which was completed in 2021.

Alex is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Mudgee Hospital and is on the Emergency Department roster as well as caring for Hospital In-Patients. He provides supervision of Medical Students and Junior Doctors.

His main area of interest is Skin Cancer Medicine, performing skin checks Monday to Thursday with procedures Tuesday afternoon and Friday.

Alex is an active member of the general and sporting community, with a keen interest in running and cycling.

Dr Gary MOORE

MB BS, Dip OHS, Dip Paeds

General family medicine

Gary graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1983. He spent 3 years at St George Hospital & 18 months at Sydney Childrens Hospital, before heading to the UK to do obstetric training. On return he worked in Orange doing anaesthetics/ICU and was Director A&E at Orange for a year. Arrived in Mudgee in 1991. Gary continues to do emergency on call VMO work at Mudgee Hospital and apart from seeing the general variety of rural medicine, has set up a methadone clinic and has undertaken further training in Hep C prescribing. He enjoys cycling, bushwalking and golf.

Dr Peter HAWKINS

BM BS, FRACGP, BN

General family medicine

Peter graduated from Flinders University in 1999, after having a career in banking and nursing. After spending 4 years working as a Doctor with the Australian Defence Force travelling around the country and on deployment overseas, he decided “happy life equals happy wife”. So he moved to Mudgee in 2004.

He became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2005.

Peter enjoys all areas of general practice and worked as a VMO at Mudgee Hospital from 2004 to 2010.

Peter is married and has three boys. He enjoys “shed time”, travel and spending time with his family.

Dr Alison SIEVERT

BSc(hons), MBBS, FRACGP-RG, DipRGA

General family medicine

Alison Worked in research at Newcastle University and the Garvan Institute Sydney, prior to starting medicine. She graduated from Sydney University in 2006, and spent 4 years working at Canberra Hospital before moving to the Hunter for a year of Emergency Medicine at Maitland Hospital. Alison completed General Practice training in Mudgee followed by GP-anaesthetics training at Dubbo Base Hospital.

Alison continues to work regularly at Dubbo Hospital in anaesthetics. She is a VMO at Mudgee Hospital for both anaesthetics and emergency rosters as well as working on the ward with admitted patients.

Alison swims all summer, runs year-round, plays with the Mudgee Concert band, and likes to escape town to hike with her family.

Dr Timothy JONES

MB BS

General family medicine

Dr Tim Jones graduated from the University of Sydney in 2011.

He has completed the majority of his medical training in the Central West and has worked in general practice since 2016.

He enjoys the diversity of general practice and has a special interest in medical education. Tim has recently taken on the role as Rural Academic Leader for the University of Wollongong, Mudgee Hub.

Tim has moved to Mudgee with his family.

Tim is available for appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Dr Chiyo STENT

BMedSc, Doctor of Medicine, DRANZCOG, FRACGP

Chiyo graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2015 after completing a bachelor degree in medical science at the University of Sydney in 2011.

Chiyo grew up in Newcastle and spent her high school years in Tokyo, Japan. She did her hospital training in Victoria where she completed a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and returned to NSW in 2018 to the Mid North Coast for the duration of her general practice training. She has a broad range of skills and interests and sees patients of all ages but has a special interest in women’s health and sexual health. She is fluent in conversational Japanese.
She has moved to Mudgee with her husband and child to be closer to family and is a netball tragic.

Dr Jake CRAWFORD

BMED, FACRRM, DipClinPsych, DRCOG, DCH

General family medicine

Jake graduated from the University of New England in 2014. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. He has completed diplomas in anaesthetics, psychiatry, obstetrics & gynaecology, and paediatrics.

Jake is a Visiting Medical Officer at Mudgee Hospital and provides anaesthetic services for elective theatre cases as well as elective and emergency obstetrics. He also has admitting rights for inpatient care and works in the emergency department.

Dr Steven KHOR

Steven studied at the University of Newcastle before working a general surgical and plastic surgery registrar at multiple hospitals in Sydney including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Prince of Wales hospital and the Sydney Children’s hospital, Randwick. The skills he gained in this time has allowed him to work with the Mudgee community in the GP and hospital setting. He enjoys all aspects of general practice and strives to optimise preventative health measures to keep patients healthy.

Outside of work he enjoys getting lost in the hills of Mudgee during long runs, before finding all the good food that Mudgee has to offer.

Helen DICKINSON

Registered Nurse

Helen joined our Practice in 2011. She is a Registered Nurse and works Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Helen is trained in Child and Family Health and runs our Healthy Kids Check Clinic.

Helen takes a keen interest in Asthma and conducts an Asthma & COPD Clinic in collaboration with Western NSW Integrated Care Program

She is also trained in Well Womens Health and conducts our Pap Smear Clinics.

Helen is also available for all procedure room clinical care.

Susan BOURKE

Registered Nurse

Sue joins us after many years in the hospital system.

Sue brings much experience to the practice and you’ll find her in the treatment room Monday, Tuesdays and Fridays.

Bec

Rebecca LEVER

Bec moved to Mudgee in 2021. She has spent her nursing career as a theatre nurse and continues to work at Mudgee Hospital Operating Theatres. Bec works part time at South Mudgee Surgery and can be found in the treatment room every Friday.

Tamara

Tamara GILBERT

Registered Nurse

Tamara joined the South Mudgee Surgery team after a stint in the Mudgee Respiratory Clinic.

Tamara moved to Mudgee in 2020 from the Northern Beaches in Sydney where she worked in Emergency.

Andrea

Andrea HONEYSETT

Registered Nurse

Andrea has worked at South Mudgee Sugery as our casual Regisered Nurse for over 20 years.  When she is not efficienly runnning our vaccine clinics or working in our procedure room Andrea and her husband like to be travelling the country.

Leigh-anne VANAGS

Practice Manager

Leigh-anne commenced as front desk reception in 2013, and then moved into the role of Admin Manager and more recently in 2022 Practice Manager. She is responsible for all aspects of an efficiently run Practice and to ensure all patients receive the best possible care. If you have any feedback or complaints please do not hesitate to call and ask for Leigh-anne.
Personally Leigh-Anne is also a local girl that already knows most of our patients. She is also a busy Nan to her two grandchildren.

Michelle SCRIVENER

Front Desk Supervisor

Michelle started working at the Practice in 2002 as a receptionist. She has since taken on the job of Supervisor and makes sure the Practice appointments run smoothly on a daily basis.

Kristie WAITE

Admin Manager

Kristie joined our practice in April 2017 as front desk reception and has recently in 2022 stepped into the role of Admin Manager. Kristie is responsible for all all aspects of  administration, accounts and payroll.

Kristie works part time and is a busy Mum of three girls.

Kathy MARCHANT

Receptionist

Kathy is one of the happy faces that will greet you at the front desk. Kathy has been with the Practice since 2005. Kathy works part time and is a very busy grandmother.

Allison BEER

Receptionist

Allison was born in Mudgee.  Married in Mudgee and has two beautiful children. Allison attended Mudgee Public Schools and Tafe.   When she is not working she is busy assisting organising the local Mudgee Show.  Hobbies are Horses, gardening and a love of travelling Australia.

Receptionist

Melissa joined the practice in 2024. When Mel is not at work at the surgery she is looking after her farm, animals and gardens.

Amy REIMER

Receptionist

Amy joined South Mudgee Surgery in early 2024 as one of our front desk receptionists. When Amy is not at work she enjoys camping, working out and walking her dogs.
